I started out in the pet care industry as a customer service rep at a dog boarding and grooming facility. I was moved into the grooming salon as a bather and worked my way up from there. I never really liked how the dogs were treated in the big box stores due to the high volume and demand of grooming. My goal quickly became working for myself. I am Black, Latina and disabled and own/ operate my business as a one woman show. Because of the Lyme disease that I have, I needed to be able to take time off when my body is having a flare. I was able to buy a home with a detached garage that is now a licensed salon.
